Welcome to CommittedFraud.com! CommittedFraud.com is a highly categorized in-depth informational resource for all terms related to Committed Fraud. About us.

In criminal law, a fraud is an intentional deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual; the related adjective is fraudulent. The specific legal definition varies by legal jurisdiction. Fraud is a crime, and also a civil law violation. Defrauding people or entities of money or valuables is a common purpose of fraud, but there have also been fraudulent "discoveries", e.g., in science, to gain prestige rather than immediate monetary gain.

A hoax also involves deception, but without the intention of gain or of damaging or depriving the victim.

What does it mean when someone cites "fraud" as a reason for divorce?
Q. What are some examples of things one spouse could have done to cause the other to file for divorce citing fraud? Could cheating be considered fraud?
Asked by - Fri Dec 18 23:57:04 2009 - Law & Ethics - 3 Answers - Comments

A. If a spouse represents himself or herself as a rich person, or an educated person, or a single person, and it turns out later that the person is not what they represented themselves to be, that is fraud, and is a ground for divorce. - Stuart

Q. My roommate and I are trying to get an apartment but it says our SSN are fraud. They are both correct, we've gone over them mulitple times. Neither of us have ever gotten a ticket or been to jail or been held accountable for a crime or anything. What could this possibly mean? nevermind, we got it fixed. my roommate put the wrong birthday on the application so it didnt match with the ssn :P
